Product and branding design for an original bag brand for WELD DESIGN STORE, a select store run by KAIRI EGUCHI STUDIO Inc,.

296 (Ni-Kyuu-Roku) is a brand in which product designers rationally reconstruct a bag. We rethought and designed the bags from a new angle, without being bound by preconceived notions.

The pocket tote is designed with a slanted pocket perfect for holding books, smartphones, and other items that become fluid when taken out during travel. The basic bag is a casual tote bag made of high quality fabric that aims to maximize the gap between the volume when used and the volume when folded.

Both bags are made from deadstock fabrics of Banshuori, a traditional industry in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, which would otherwise have been discarded.

The stitching around the 296 logo is also an expression of numbers, and the sparse stitching was designed to freely explore diverse ideas without being bound by preconceived ideas
